Viking Cruises Suspends Operations Thru April-30th
In a letter sent to Viking Cruises guests and their Travel Advisors, Chairman Torstein Hagen announced that operations for both river and sea cruises will be temporarily suspended due to the COVID-19 situation.
The announcement follows from a statement the previous evening from President Trump restricting travel from Europe to the United States as travel has become increasingly complicated.
For those who have currently booked cruises with Viking, they are providing two paths of compensation:
- A future cruise credit valued at 125% of all monies paid to Viking
- A refund equal to the amount paid.
The future cruise credit (FCC) must be used within 24-months from issuance by Viking.
Additionally, the Risk-Free Guarantee remains available allowing guests to change their cruise date or cancel up to 24-hours prior to their planned departure without penalty.
Viking was founded in 1997 with the purchase of four ships in Russia. In 2000, the company purchased Europe’s KD River Cruises in order to grow its fleet, to leverage 40 years of river cruising experience and to acquire rights to prime docking locations in key European cities.
