The aerial attraction aboard the Carnivals Cruise Line Vista class ships has been a popular, award winning attraction and unique feature for guests, though problematic for the cruise line.

The pedal-powered feature allows guests to float in the air- a hundred feet-plus around the perimeter of the top deck of the ship. However it has been prone to break downs and poor weather conditions.

Now however, both the Carnival Vista and Horizon ships which feature the attraction has notified guests that it has been closed until further notice. While the cruise line has not explicitly stated what the issue is, they have noted that maintenance is required.

In an email sent to guests, the cruise line said:

SkyRide has been closed for unexpected maintenance. While we are making every effort to complete any recommended work as quickly as possible will remain closed until further notice.

We apologize for any disappointment this may cause and know you’ll enjoy the many other fun features onboard.

We thank you for your understanding and look forward to welcoming you onboard for a fun and memorable cruise.

Carnival Cruise Line

The cruise line obviously is attempting to correct and issue that it has found across its two active ships with the attraction – and soon to be third ship, the Carnival Panorama, which also will feature the SkyRide, due to start sailing in December.

As more information becomes available, TheOceanTraveler will update this article.
