Single-Use Plastics to be Significantly Reduced by Carnival

The Carnival Cruise Line, and associated brands has committed to start reducing single-use plastics by the end of 2021. The company announced that it will eliminate consumption and purchase of these types of plastics.

This announcement comes as Carnival recently settled a federal lawsuit regarding its previous illegal dumping in the Caribbean.

The “Operation Ocean Alive” program, started in 2018, aims to reduce use of plastic straws, cups, packaged food, bags and more.

Carnival has become far more conscious of its commitment to the environment, along with transitioning from heavy oil to Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) for its new ships, due to the fleet in the next few years.
