New $300M Cruise Destination Announced for Freeport Bahamas by Royal Caribbean

Holistica Destinations, a joint venture with Royal Caribbean announced a massive $300 million investment to redevelop Freeport, Grand Bahama.

The new project will include the Grand Lucayan resort, to be named Lucayan Property. The cruise port terminal enhancement will be called Harbour Village.

The new Lucayan Property will include a 526 room beachfront hotel, spa and wellness center, water park, adventure theme park, shopping village and a small convention center. Adventure excursions will be available including zip lines and off-roading. The property will also boast a nightlife entertainment area including clubs, restaurants and bars.

Harbour Village will be located at the cruise terminal in Freeport Harbor. The redeveloped terminal area will feature shopping and dining along with dining and bars.

Both projects should be completed by winter of 2022.

In the spring of 2019, Royal Caribbean and the government of The Bahamas inked a letter of intent for the redevelopment of Freeport Harbor terminal and the purchase of the Grand Lucayan resort.
