Holland America to Name New Ship the “Ryndam”
In anticipation of a confirmed May 2021 delivery date, Holland America announced that their new ship will be named “Ryndam.”
The Ryndam is a sister ship to the Nieuw Statendam and Koningsdam carrying 2666 passengers and will feature “plussed” Pinnacle class amenities.
The ship initially started being built at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy in March of 2019.
The name was previously used by Holland America from 1901 through 1929 as Rijndam before changing its spelling to english. In 1927 the Ryndam was the first ship to feature a “world cruise.” The second served from 1951 to 1973 and a third with the same name from 1993 through 2015 until it was transferred to P&O Australia.
