Disney Cruise Line introduced today their newest crew member – Captain Minnie Mouse – who will be an ambassador for young girls, encouraging them to explore maritime careers.
Captain Minnie Mouse – who as a first time ever – will wear pants and red jacket, rather than her signature skirt, is meant to “inspire the next generation of female leaders in the maritime industry,” according to an appearance on ABC’s Good Morning America.
You will find Captain Minnie Mouse, starting in April across Disney’s four cruise ships: Magic, Wonder, Dream and Fantasy.
Along with the debut of Captain Minnie, Disney will be introducing a series of new on-ship kids club programming specifically for young girls featuring “STEM” and problem solving activities.
When Captain Minnie appears in public, she will be accompanied by a female officer or crew member who will discuss their career in maritime.
Additionally, scholarship funding for young women who want to pursue a career in the cruise industry was announced as well.
